Muwaileh Public Library

About the Project: This project aimed at introducing a new construct into the urban fabric of an otherwise mundane setting. Since each building on the given site followed the same typology, my approach was to ensure that the visitors of the library enjoyed an internalised experience and this was achieved by using perforated bricks and wooden louvres on the facades of the building. This allowed for privacy from the neighbouring buildings as well as the tempering of light. I also introduced a lightwell within my construct which illuminated the top two floors and provided ample lighting suitable for the preferred environment in a library.
